A maverick from the Guangdong province of southern China who grew up helping his grandmother, every afternoon, cook Uphakka feasts for the family. But after losing his grandma to old age, tong kept his love for cuisine alive with a side of petty crime. After a series of clever yet undoubtedly unlawful activities, tong found himself on the run from the local authorities. Little did he knows that on the other side of the run were the vibrant shores of British-ruled Kolkata and the love of his life – a saucy minx named Bipasha. She became his muse and encouraged him to live out his childhood dream of opening a small eatery that served his grandmother’s best recipes, bringing Hakka cuisine to the local Indian community. After a few years of culinary bliss, the thrill of crime found him, and he knew he had to split before he got found out. But before he returned to life as a fugitive, he left Bipasha with the ultimate love letter – a handwritten notebook with his grandmother’s recipes
